Minority women face retirement and financial demands of aging with fewer pensions and personal savings than any other group in the U.S. population according to a report by Women's Institute for a Secure Retirement (WISER).

According to Wiser, "Minority Women and Retirement", notes poverty rates for single and Hispanic women over 65 are more than twice the rate for white women with most of these women exclusively relying on Social Security as their sole means of support. (wiser magazine 2003).
